They started out stiff but they’ve become very weak. I had this same issue with my 13 and was never able to get a replacement hinge because its hard to demonstrate weak hinges to support on video. This time I have two laptops to compare so I know its not me. (It wasn’t me last time either though.)
It’s weak enough that I can feel a huge difference between the two machines and occasionally flops forward while I’m typing in bed, but its strong enough that it would be hard to document on video anyway. The more concerning thing is that the hinges grind when moved which is normally a sign that your hinges are failing.
Wow, that is weak! Even with my display at like a 45 degree angle (half closed), I have to shake it quite a bit before the display would wobble enough to actually flop down. I doubt you’re just that vigorous of a typer.
That’s good, at least its just mine and not a problem with the design as a whole.
Tell me about it lol. I have the worst luck with Framework QC. My 13 was riddled with issues when I got it too. Spent the first roughly 3 weeks troubleshooting and replacing parts.
Yeah, and I don’t see any obvious way to adjust them. So if they keep loosening up, the only option will probably be replacement. It’s great that replacement is an option, but I’d hope not to have to replace so much so fast, lol.
Could you add this to your open ticket (either the chassis one or the display flicker one)? If your previous ticket(s) closed, open another so we can track this. Thanks!
