FW13 Intel Ultra Series not charging

Battery always at 0% or 1% and is not charging. The laptop is always plugged to the power supply otherwise it shuts down immediately. The clock de-synchronizes at each reboot.

I already did the suggestions I could find, including the ones by the framework support.

  • Tried charging from all USB ports
  • Bypassing the expansion cards and plugging the power adapter directly to the motherboard
  • Disconnected the battery in BIOS
  • Physically disconnected the battery from the motherboard and reconnect it.

I already contacted framework support, but I wondered if the community has had similar problems. Could the battery be dead? Thanks for your help.

Just going to remove some unknowns / assumptions. What power supply are you using? And what USB-C cable are you using? Both questions go toward USB-PD, wattage…etc. Have you tried using other USB-PD power supply? (In case it might be a power supply and / or cable issue…)

I’m using the original Framework 60W power adapter. The USB-C cable is the one that comes with the adapter.

I also have tried another USB-PD power supply which its own USB-C cable, the same behavior.

The charging power is abysmally low. Install fw-ectool and check $ ectool battery, $ ectool chargestate show and $ ectool chargecontrol

I haven’t had the chance to install fw-ectool. After some exchange with Framework support, they came to the conclusion that the battery needs replacement. I’ll check it when received, thanks!
