I’m using Zorin 18.1 and mostly the Brave browser. A couple of times over several months after switching from Windows I’ve been watching YouTube and it gets caught in a short (about half second) loop and everything else is frozen with no response from mouse or keyboard. I have to resort to a reboot to fix it. It never happened in Windows 11. It’s a annoying and I can get on with things after the reboot, but something is definitely off.
Hello There,
Sorry to hear about this issue. I have Zorin 18.1 on my FW 13 AMD 7040 and it works great.
You can try the following:
- If you dual boot between Windows 11 and Zorin 18.1, you can try the following in the BIOS settings:
- Turn off Fast Boot
- Turn off Secure Boot
-
On Windows, try to turn off the Advanced Hidden Power Settings as it can prevent the Windows Hard Drive from going to sleep
-
In Brave on Zorin, you can also try to turn off “Use graphics acceleration when available” in Brave’s System settings
-
You can also try to install Firefox and see if it makes any difference.
-
Switch to X11. You can try to switch the desktop from Wayland to X11. From the login, click on the small cog in the right hand side and select the X11/Xorg option.
I hope this will help
