GPU skyrocketting to 95%+ usage, 90+ °C when opening simple games

So TLDR; my GPU is supposedly getting insanely hot and using basically 100% when opening most games suddenly, and naturally the performance tanks. Any ideas why? Full context below.

I was gaming with a friend (playing Granvir) and everything was fine, performance was normal, no abnormalities. We finish gaming and I open my browser (Which has like 50 tabs, normally isnt an issue), which as soon as I clicked to my email tab the entire laptop begun to freeze, though I could still hear through Discord vc. I decided to force shut down the laptop via holding the power button. I noticed Discord pings and other things begun functioning as I was turning it off. Eventually turned it off and rebooted. Thought everything was fine until I tried booting a game shortly after, the game performance was surprisingly horrible. I restarted to try again and it was still bad. I booted up other games to try and this is when we started to notice the majority of games caused the GPU to go extreme: Fans racing, 95% usage, 90+ degrees celsius. I turned it off and cleaned out dust and hairs from the fans and vents. Reboot, issue is still there. Is my GPU the problem? Whats going on?
(Im gonna immediately go to support with this too, just wanted to see what the community thinks)

Oof. I am not 100% sure what the issue could be. I got a graphics module (7700s), but never had any major issues. I think maybe the thermal paste wasn’t applied at the factory right or maybe your drivers went bad. Either way, I think it’s best for support to help diagnose for sure.

If the GPU goes to 90C immediately, it’s the thermal paste problem. Repaste it with PTM7950

Very easy thing to check would be your heatsink vents. Even a tiny blockage due to hair getting stuck in there can (and in the past for me, has) lead to even something as drastic as thermal safety shutoff. I’d recommend moving the fans and cleaning out both of the heatsinks before repasting.

This post is for CPU, but it applies to GPU’s as well.

Update: Followed some steps from support and the problem seems to be fixed for the time being. Reinstalled the later driver update, did a deeper 2nd deeper clean with compressed air, and booted once with all the expansion cards removed. Dont know what exactly caused the problem but I guess it wasnt the thermal paste luckily.
