Have a mainboard, need the laptop around it

Hi,

I hope this is in the correct subforum - I have an i7-1165G7 mainboard in a Coolermaster case, but now my wife’s old HP laptop has crapped out and I want to repurpose this mainboard into a Framework Laptop 13.

I was looking in the parts store, and think I just need to buy:

What I’m wondering is if I need to buy the screw sets, a hinge set (or if it’s on 1 of the Cover (kit)s) or such, can anyone guide me here?

I wish there was the possibility to just buy an empty clamshell as a bundle for this use case.

Thanks all!

There is kit, with most things except the main board:

E.g.

It might be cheaper all together.

Oh, that didn’t show up because it’s out of stock…

Plus it comes with mostly Gen1 stuff, while we want to go for the newer battery, input cover, and the 2.8k screen

You probably want a Wi-Fi card as well if you don’t already have one: https://frame.work/be/en/products/intel-wi-fi-6e-ax210

You also will need all of the screw kits, hinges, and the display bezel. It looks like but does not state that the display comes with the display cable, so I would confirm that.

That is the correct answer as the chassis comes with most everything you need. You just need to bring a mainboard, a WiFi card, 4 I/O modules, memory, storage and a power adapter.

That covers everything you’ll need to go from a mainboard to a full laptop.
