People suggested using SC_MONITORPOWER option 2 from
but it puts the laptop to sleep as do other solutions such as nircmd. In power plan, I can set the screen to turn off and sleep after a set time but I want to turn the screen off via a shortcut. I also set it so closing the lid doesn’t put it to sleep but I don’t always want that.
It was suggested to me that a power plan setting is causing the above methods to put the laptop to sleep but I can’t find anything like that in the GUI.
It seems like a paid program called MonitorFusion can change those settings on the fly via a hotkey. Maybe there’s an open source tool which does the same, but I couldn’t find it in 10 minutes.
