Hi all!
Since 6 months I am a proud owner of Framework 13 (Intel Core Ultra Series 1 - Ultra 7 165H (up to 5.0GHz, 6+8 cores)/ 32GB Memory / 1TB Storage / Windows 11 Pro). I bought it with an idea of working a lot with GIS programs as well as Adobe programs (Illustrator, InDesign). I’m experiencing now a lot of waiting time while working on images or pdf in InDesign. Files I’m working at are not specifically big (200MB). Are there any tips of settings I should adjust to improve the performance? Or actually I should think about working with external graphic card? Thank you in advance
Welcome to the community @Anna1,
Those program and very graphically intensive and the built in graphics on just about any laptop struggles with heavy graphics applications compared to a machine with a dedicated video card.
An external graphics card will make a big difference compared to the laptop but it is no substitute for a full on desktop with dedicated graphics abilities.
The AMD AI processors would have made a little better progress graphics wise but the end result would be the same.
The Framework 13 with those specs is a very capable device it just needs a little help with the heavy graphics. It has the modularity and portability down to a science but raw graphics performance are weak on any laptop without dedicated graphics.
Even gaming laptops struggle where a mid-range
desktop with a decent graphics card runs circles around it.
