How do I enable Wake on LAN? I see nothing in the BIOS config options relating to this (as I do in my other non-Framework computers). Does that mean WoL is automatically enabled or (far worse) that WoL is not supported?
As near as I can tell I have it enabled in Windows but it’s not working.
I don’t have the answer, but just asking for more details might help.
Are you asking for Wake on LAN or Wake on Wireless LAN (WoWLAN)? What’s the NIC in question?
Interesting question. I didn’t know there was a difference. In the laptop that the Framework 13 replaced I guess I had it enabled on both my Ethernet and Wireless adapter, but I’m not sure I ever tried it on Ethernet.
I have a built-in Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX210 160MHz NIC and the ASIX USB Gigabit Ethernet Family Adapter (the Framework Ethernet adapter. Both have “Wake on Magic Packet” enabled.
Wake-on-Lan (WoL) is for waking the computer out of a sleep state. I do not recall the topic someone else posted in the past about WoL and their trials to get it to work.
If the intention is to boot the computer from a shutdown state; enabling the Power on AC attach might be another approach. Then a smart switch could be connected to the USBC PD adapter and remotely “turned on” from an app on your phone, etc. 
The latest v3.05 firmware has an update to this feature that fixes some of the issue of [correction] Power on AC Attach [correction] not working. Please check your BIOS and update accordingly.
I know very little about the “Modern Standby” form of sleep (and would not have purchased the Framework laptop if I’d known only Modern Standby was supported), but I’ve read that WoL is supposed to wake the computer from an S0 state.
The smart switch idea might work, but I want the laptop to go into a sleep state after some period of inactivity - a sleep state, not a powered down state. The switch would not know about this. I guess I could have the switch cut and reestablish power, but I’m not sure what the “Power on AC attach” option would do if the laptop was already on (but asleep).

Ahh, what was in my brain and what came out on the keyboard was not in sync. 
Wake on Lan should bring the laptop (or any computer for that matter) out of its sleep state 
(even S0 “modern standby”); however there have been reports of people whose laptops have woken up repeatedly, overheated, drained the battery excessively, or never woke up at all, etc. 
What I intended to suggest (but did not format correctly from my brain) is to enable the “hibernation” of the machine (This is turned off by default in Windows 11, FYI) and let the machine fully power down in the hibernated state. 
Using the “Power on AC attach” feature from the BIOS with a smart switch would allow the user to to trigger it waking up which should only take like 30 seconds longer than using WoL. This way the machine could be idle and shutdown on its own accord and the user could manually fire it up when needed to work on it again. This would avoid the issues with the “modern standby” and excessive waking that happens because everything wants to trigger a wake event in Windows these days (just my opinion).
