Idea For TrackPoint On Framework 16

I don’t know if this idea is feasible or not, so apologies in advance if this is off-base…

If I understand the situation correctly, the only problem with adding a TrackPoint is the height of the components, i.e. the distance between the keyboard and the display surface. Given this, instead of trying to make the TrackPoint thinner, would it be possible to design a replacement lid to be thicker, with the display recessed from the front of the bezel, thus creating a small gap between the keyboard and the display?

It might be a little odd-looking, but I think many TrackPoint fans would make the trade-off.

(I’d acquired one of the X1 tablet keyboards as well for the test fit, in the hopes that it could be easily disassembled and extracted – no joy. The thing is glued shut and there’s no easy way to get it apart without destroying it.)
