I have a EC CCD. I get EC console output on the Slot 4. (Right had side near screen).
If I plug into the Slot 1 (Left hand side near screen) I get nothing. So no access to the SoC serial port on a FW16. So maybe it only works on the FW13.

I’m unclear on whether the original Laptop 16 offers this option. If it does, and if you have enabled it, the SoC serial port will be available via SBU1/2 on the right middle USB C port. If it does not offer that option, the SoC serial port will not be available on any USB C port.

I don’t get any SoC output on Slot 5 (right middle) either on the FW16 AMD 7840HS.
I only get EC output on Slot 4.

It doesn’t. I would not expect it to work for you, considering it does not exist in that revision of the hardware.
