Battery life is fine, but when I removed my keyboard deck to investigate an issue with my trackpad I thought “this battery is looking a little puffy”
Is this a normal level of puffiness? The keyboard deck sits pretty flush when installed. There’s maybe a 0.1mm gap in the front, but that could just be the FW13 lifestyle.
I would remove it, dispose of it safely, and reach out to Support for replacement. That battery is bad.

New battery is installed, and I’m taking the old one (which has been removed since I posted this) to be safely disposed of tomorrow.
I’d like to thank FW for making it so easy to replace a battery, and for the fast shipping!
NOTE: while I have been on up-to-date firmware (fwupd is amazing), and did have the battery extender enabled, I also had the charge limit set to 100, which is likely why this happened. The battery lasted 3 years like this, and thank goodness it never combusted.
NOTE 2: I opened my machine up because the trackpad stopped clicking when pressed a month or so ago - I figured it needed to be re-seated and was lazy and relied on tap-to-click. The issue was, 100%, the puffy battery. With the new battery the trackpad is working fine again.
So, to anybody on a FW13 who’s trackpad (particularly the left-side) has stopped clicking and registering clicks when pressed: Check your battery!
