Just posting this in case someone runs into a similar problem and goes down the wrong direction like I did. Some months ago I noticed that the Touchpad “Buttons” on my Framework 13 were becoming more difficult to click. I did not contact support, but replaced the touchpad which did not fix the problem. I then noticed that the input cover was not seating properly. That’s when I discovered that my battery was swelling. Replacing the battery fixed the touchpad as well!
Morals of the story: Problems with your touchpad buttons might be an early sign of your battery failing. Also, if I had contacted support about the buttons, they might have pointed me at the battery early in the piece.
Just to put people’s minds at ease, the battery WAS failing, no doubt, but there was no sign of overheating and (other than the touchpad buttons) the laptop continued to work fine.
