I’ve been trying to set up a standalone server, but since I don’t have a video adapter I’ve been forced to constantly swap out my mainboard with my notebook mainboard because I’ve had problems getting SSH running and accessible on it.
At some point in this process the mainboard stopped lighting up or powering on when I plugged in the USB plug. I’m guessing it shorted out, somehow? Is there some other possibility, or am I just fucked?
If you could give more specifics, it would be helpful for others to maybe help.
Like, pluged into the usb plug, presume this is the power cable? Just to check, is it a FW cable, with a FW power supply? The side led next to the power plug shows nothing? No signs of life at all? Just to check, you’ve tried other ports? Is it connected to a battery? If not, I’d try that. Any other details. Troubleshooting is ruling out possible issues, so a list of many details is helpful.
This is connected to a USB 100W charger, like it was before, and happy with. It’s not FW, but it’s worked before and in fact is working now on my laptop. I’ve tried it on both sides and neither lights up. Zero signs of life. Hooking up a battery doesn’t do anything either.
The USB-C ports on the FW13 can have Display Port adapters. You can then plug a screen into them. So if you have any USB-C to DP adapters, you should be able to use them to get into the BIOS.
Zero signs of life, despite the things you’ve tried & the power supply working elsewhere, sure sounds like time to start a support ticket, if you haven’t already.
