FW 13 shut down and won't come back

My laptop shut down yesterday as if a desktop had its power cable pulled. I plugged in an sd card reader into my dock usb port and may have also jiggled the cables. It no longer powers on.

Previously (months) both my left usb ports stopped working and the right pair briefly stopped working.
I also ran a bios update 3.05 → 3.09 + ran the new port re timings on both sides successfully maybe 4 hours before this with at least 1 reboot other than the ones done by the update.

Some more details:

Right side led will give nothing at all with or without a power cable

Left side initially would give 3 red blinks + 1 short red blink when pressing the power button with battery and no charger, as well as constant blinking when with charger, with or without the battery.
Now Left side only gives the 3 red, 1 short red when on battery and nothing at all when with no battery. Charger has no effect.

When pressing the chassis switch the light goes out, which I take to mean the led blinking is just the chassis alert and its never starting to post

Charger works when used on other devices

Removing ssd + wifi has no effect

Power button has no light enabled

Laptop is stock with no internal tinkering

It was receiving power via the charger up to when it shut down. I have it set to stay awake while the lid is closed when on ext power, and it was closed at the time.

OS: Windows 11
Framework 13 DIY edition - 13th gen Intel
Charger: Framework 60W

Hi.
It sounds to me like a broken FW 13 mainboard.
It might be worth contacting FW support via their web form.

Further tests might be:

  1. Power off laptop.
  2. Remove all Slot cards, then only insert one for the charger.
  3. Remove SSD, Wifi and Battery.
  4. Remove PSU/Charger for 120 seconds.
  5. Plug the PSU back in, and press the power button.

This will test it with a reset Embedded Controller (EC).
Note the EC does not reset when you unplug the PSU, it waits about 45 seconds, but 120 seconds above to be sure.

The above test is worth it, to test a problem EC and a problem battery.
But, as I said above, this sounds like a failed mainboard to me.

Unfortunately I’ve gone through those exact steps with basically no response beyond the 3 red 1 short red chassis alert blink. I’ve reached out and am awaiting a response from support but am fearing the worst. Thanks for the advice anyways!
