Is the battery charge limit actually working?

I am on fedora 42, latest bios update, latest kernel update, AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370,

And I have in the BIOS set a battery charging limit of 80%.

However in the OS it still seems to charge to 100.

So is it actually limiting it but fedora doesn’t recognize it, or is the charge limit being disregarded?

That’s a known issue fixed by BIOS 3.04 (currently in beta).

You probably should disable battery extender in the BIOS if you have charging limited to 80%

Once set in the BIOS.

  1. Power off the laptop.
  2. Unplug the PSU cable.
  3. wait 100 seconds.
  4. Plug PSU cable back in and power on the laptop.

It should work better then.
