Framework 13 - AMD Ryzen™ 5 7640U
Ubuntu Linux 24.04
Hello,
Starting a few days ago, I noticed a strange issue where I would be typing, and all of a sudden, the text cursor would jump back about a word or so and a random input, like “1324798<“ would appear. I narrowed it down to the ‘p’ key when my hands are applying a certain amount of pressure on the keyboard cover. Today, I noticed a similar thing happen with either the letter ‘e’ or ‘r’ (not sure which), but I haven’t been able to reproduce this.
I tried removing the keyboard input cover, disconnecting, using compressed air, and inspecting the pins for damage. None of the pins appeared damaged. Unfortunately, upon reboot, now several more keys are not simply not accepting input, though the additional number sequence and cursor jump are not occurring. I tried repeating this, and while the pins still do not appear damaged, the same keys are still dead The newly affected keys are ‘q’ ‘x’ ‘c’ ‘v’ ‘m’ ‘,’ ‘.’ ‘/’ right shift, right alt, and right ctrl. I am typing this with the accessibility keyboard. The original symptom associated with the ‘p’ key is still happening.
Could these be symptoms of keyboard failure? Or could I totally screwed and it’s an issue with the motherboard-side pins? I’ve seen a few posts where others have had isolated failure of one key, but none have noted the cursor jump or the sequence of numbers.
Some other notes, the problem with ‘p’ started before the most recent firmware update. I am now up-to-date on all software/firmware and still having these issues. No recent drops, liquid exposure, or monkeying-around with the internals. Photos of the connection points are attached.
Thanks in advance
