Keyboard scratching and damaging LCD panel

My BABY!!!

So… I’ve only noticed this today, but it seems that the keyboard of my Framework 16 seems to have damaged the surface and actually caused a couple of dead pixels on my LCD panel.

I’m not exactly sure HOW this got damaged since I baby it like crazy. The only thing I can think of is that somehow there’s enough flex in the back of the LCD panel that it compresses against the keyboard when in transport causing massive scratches.

My question is… would this be covered under warranty?

Just FYI, I’ve had even bigger marks after a couple of months which I was able to fully remove with a wet microfiber cloth.

Tried that. But it’s not just scuffmarks, but actually carved into the surface of the LCD panel.

Yep I’m having the same issue. Not great.

So… I have found a solution to this problem and involves placing a silicone sheet over the keyboard. I have found these that fit the 16 almost perfectly with a little bit of overhang.

I’ve noticed the same issue with my screen, but it also had bright stuck pixels, which are probably unrelated and covered by the warranty:

So I got it replaced under warranty and ever since I’m guarding my display using this pad, which can also be used as a mouse pad:
