Latest BIOS behavior?

Hi, I’m using the latest BIOS 3.07 with my FW13 Intel 13th gen, and I am experiencing strange behavior with Windows 11

My BIOS battery settings are set to avoid charging the battery beyond 80%, but I have also the new recent BIOS feature set too… after 1 day, drop charging capacity, and take more than1 hour on battery to reset charging state.

Could both settings can be overwhelm when used at the same time or should not be used both at the same time ???

Windows does not keep charging state at 80%… most of the time 87%… and I still have blinking external display from time to time. And in Windows 11 event view, I am having a recurring message at every 5-10 seconds or so related on PowerEvent that occurred.

So my question, should we not be able to use both BIOS battery feature at the same time ??

Regards.

Set the charge limit to 100%, disable the battery extender, set the charge limit to 80%

That’s what I did. But should we have one option at a time and not both available at the same time? My guess, only one should enable at a time

The BIOS has two features:

  1. Battery Limit
Designed to limit the max charge level to a sensible level. People often use 80% or 60%
Once set, you do not actually need the battery extender, so best to disable the battery extender in the BIOS.
  2. Battery extender.
If the battery is at 100% for extensive periods, it can damage / age it.
So the battery extender tries to detect that the laptop has not been used for a while and discharges it to a more sensible level to use for extended periods. It discharges it down to about 87%

So, it is best to use one or the other:

  1. Set limit to 60 or 80%
    disable battery extender.

  2. Set limit to 100%
    enable battery extender.

I think (1) is likely to keep the battery better for longer.
