Running Debian 13 trixie on my Intel laptop 13.
Problem with my touchpad: On X11, left click produces left click, middle click produces middle click, but right click produces — left click!
How can I debug and fix that?
Thanks in advance for any help!
Which desktop environment are you running? Have you investigated how it has configured your touchpad?
K3n.
I’m using a classical window manager, but can use e.g. GNOME tweaks for such configurations. There are no options regarding the right (or left) touchpad button.
When I run `xinput test-xi2 --root`, I see, that left and right mouse events look the same, emitting a “1” and the middle button a “2”.
However, when I use the physical mouse, I borrowed from a colleague, the right button emits a “3”, which is what I expected.
I wonder, if I have to change something in the BIOS? The only thing related to pointer devices there seems to be PS/2 mouse emulation. Shall I turn it off?
I also tried GNOME X11 and the right mouse click just does not work.
Maybe the touchpad is broken and must be replaced?
Problem solved: Right click has to be done with two fingers!
