Linux Software to create a video from pictures

Do you know if there is any good software for Linux that is able to generate a video out of 50 individual pictures and add Text in between?

I think on MacOs iPhoto is able to do that and the iPhone can do something like this as well. Unfortunately, I haven’t found a good alternative on Linux.
