I have been using my Framework 16 for some time now and find that the chassis is constantly near burning hot to the touch after long periods of usage.
I primarily use my Framework 16 as a remote desktop system with the lid closed (because I don’t want the display to constantly be on and reduce it’s lifespan). Whenever I check up on it, the entire computer is nearly burning hot to the touch.
Currently, my only solution has been to put wet paper towels on the bottom of the device (I place it backside up to improve airflow for the fan intakes). This solution works to some extent but the water quickly heats up and evaporates leaving me to have to constantly replace it.
I was wondering if anyone here had any advice on a better way to constantly cool the computer.
The fans have air intakes from both the top and the bottom of the device. By closing the lid you are choking off some of the air intake of the device. Also, the screen is an IPS display and not OLED and so you don’t really have to worry about it wearing with use.
If you want to keep the chassis cooler I would suggest a laptop cooling pad or something similar.

@FlyingTypeTrainer is completely correct, and to add, you don’t want water near your laptop. That evaporating moisture is more likely to be sucked into the fans and increase the chance of corrosion.
I printed this stand out for my laptop and it works well. Bought the fans needed from Amazon:

Also, if the computer is hotter than expected when not working very hard, check you’re not doing something that’s could be making it run hotter than needed, such as running Linux with an old kernel.
