I have just installed Windows 11 25H2 with the new Ryzen 9 cpu. I notice that there is a near constant use of the NPU even while the machine is idling, between 60-95%. It appears that several processes named “WorkloadsSessionHost” are the likely culprits, but I’m not sure if this is of much help. I’m not using windows copilot, nor do I have any VMs running. I’m not sure what else to look at to determine where this usage is coming from. I’ve tried letting the machine sit for 30 minutes to see if whatever task is driving this usage would come to an end. No luck.
Have you found reason/solution? The same happening to me with 25H2 on Framework Desktop. After fiddling with Copilot, Search, Optional diagnostic data - it could go down to 0%, but after a while getting to 100% again, cannot find permanent solution
I was able to keep the NPU idle by disabling the following service: WSAIFabricSvc. I don’t really use any of the AI features of Windows, so I’m what I loose by this. After disabling the service, I’ve not seen any use of the npu in task manager.
