New Top Cover?

Nope, screws hold it in

Phew! Thanks for that!

@Jason_Dagless

Adhesive pads hold brackets to the screen, these brackets have screw holes and placement holes for pins to line up the screen, which is then screwed in with four screws.

Just got to wait till I can buy one nowā€¦

Anyone know if there are any plans of selling the top cover without the camera, and microphone module? Maybe be able to move it over from the old top cover to the new one.

Unless I am misinterpreting this it doesnā€™t come with those modules:

ā€œMilled out of a solid block of 6063 aluminum, the CNC version of the Top Cover has an optimized structure and increased rigidity. 75% pre-consumer-recycled material reduces environmental impact too. Comes with the Antenna Module and Webcam Cable pre-installedā€

from here: Framework | Top Cover (CNC)

Which then made me go look, and youā€™re right, the original top cover does have those. I had missed that.

ā€œDurable and made of 50% post-consumer-recycled aluminum, the Top Cover Kit includes the Antenna Module, Hinges, Webcam Module, and webcam cable, along with the Framework logo.ā€

from here: Framework | Top Cover Kit

So, the new top cover may fit your bill.

in fairness not having to machine out the lugs (to make it flat) mean the new one should actually take less time to make :v

Iā€™m definitely glad to see a higher grade top cover for the laptop, however you may also want to look into maybe another bag with more padding for said laptop. Two times in same bag, Iā€™d start being concerned with the bag.

Sure, the problem is nothing was done to the laptop that was extreme while in the bag, in fact I naturally do things more intense to a laptop outside of the bag than I do inside the bag. So while youā€™re right, maybe if I used my leather bag itā€™d be better. The fact is I have found the screen more fragile than I have in 15 years of owning laptops.
