No wifi after windows intallation (framework 13 AMD Ryzen 7040, DIY edition)

Hello,

I have just receive my first framework 13, with ADM Ryzen 7040 DIY edition.
Assembly was ok, and i install windows with a usb stick. All is ok, but then, I have no wifi, as if the wifi card was not there at all. I have look for help in this forum but I have not find the solution yet.

I have also updates the bios and the driver bundle (for this last one, is something supposed to open? I had just a quick loading bar, and then nothing). I have shut down and reopen the computer, but still the same. Plane mode is not activated. Can someone help me please?

Hi Dennis, I’ve setup a few frameworks from scratch, and I’ve had similar results with the driver pack. It is suppose to load several drivers and is pretty obvious when it works. I recommend copying the driver pack onto the c: drive, or desktop and run it from there, make sure you are using an admin account, or run as admin, and see if that changes your outcome.

Thank you for your reply.
I have copied the driver pack on the c: drive or desktop. But it does the same as before : when i click (as admin) on driver exe, it loads a little, then I see a loading bar (X% extraction). Then when it is 100%, a black window appear shortly, but dissapear instantly, but nothing else happened :pensive:… On the contrary, with BIOS driver update, I see a lot more happening… Does it mean the driver does not work on my laptop? Or is it a wifi card problem?Or something else?

Did you get the driver bundle from here? Framework Laptop 13 BIOS and Driver Releases (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series)

Yes…

Now I have a second problem … As it was not working, I tried to reinstall windows, thanks to windows parameter option. It work till this screen ; “it is time to connect to a network” and ask “install driver”, and I must choose a directory. I tried with driver bundle on a USB stick, but it is like there is no driver bundle on any drive… And contrary as the first time I install windows, I can not go to the next step… :smiling_face_with_tear: Things get worst…

Ok, I have found how to reinstall through the usb boot, as the first time, it is back like before :innocent: I will try again the driver bundle

ok as before, no wifi or any connection detected…

Can you please share a screenshot of Device Manager with the yellow warning triangle :warning: for ‘device detected but has no driver’ so you can right-click on the device → driver → update driver … or if it’s missing, turn off the laptop and re-seat the wifi device in its socket.

K3n.

Is it the right screenshot?
I have already re-seat the wifi device, but nothing change

Which of the 2 ‘Periphérique inconnu’ items is the NPU and which is your wireless adapter? Can you add drivers to it? (It’s here where my help hits a limit, I don’t use Windows 11 and I’m not sure if the Bluetooth Adpater should also be combined with the WiFi.)

K3n.

I have no idea… What is NPU? I can “update drivers” but I have only the driver bundle from framework, and i can not select this .exe file here

I ran into the same probleme using this version of the driver bundle with Windows 11 24h2, so I’d rather recommend to use this version instead : Framework Laptop 13 Ryzen 7040 BIOS 3.05 Release and Driver Bundle - #276 by Kieran_Levin

Great! Thank you, it works!

The driver bundle works, and I can connect to internet now  So far, everything looks ok!
