Don’t need it.
Don’t think I could resist the urge to buy it tho.
It’s one of the most creative uses for the FW16’s input deck I’ve seen so far!

Does it appears as a keyboard, or as a MIDI device?

Oh god… It just occurred to me…
This could easily (i think?) become a Stylophone module for the FW16! Now i REALLY need one!

Please tell me you’re still working on this! I would love to buy it (assuming it outputs MIDI), and if there’s anything I can do to help the development please let me know! Some thoughts:

  • I think you should be able to use MIDI 2.0 to nicely send all this info over USB, or I guess just MPE over a standard MIDI-over-USB protocol.
  • It seems like it might be possible to add sliders to this thing (see below). If true, you could do incredibly cool things such as have mod wheels on the left side, or even have a long strip on the bottom of the board which you could use for continuous long-range slides. You could turn this thing into a fully featured MIDI controller at this rate!

Hi, thanks for your interest! Yes I am still working on this - I recently finished my drumpad module which you can see here and I plan to update the keyboard module to use the same tech for more accurate feedback. Both modules work over MIDI with velocity (and aftertouch) - I will post an update very soon!

I got so excited seeing a new post in here! I was hoping for an update or a completed product, but I’m glad to hear that there’s still work on this.

Fantastic. I would buy this.

One would need additional controls to use this productively. You still need to be able to enter a letter or number every now and then, plus you need some MIDI controls in addition to the keyboard (slide, pitch, etc.).

I would SO love to see this, especially with the drum module. I am a musician who owns a macbook for this, but I could see myself switch to windows because of the possibilities of the FW16. I cant help with any of the technical aspect but I could see myself support that idea financially and be a tester.
