Poor disk performance when booting from USB Drive on Framework 13 with Ryzen AI 9

I have a drive I boot windows 2 go with for various purposes. My Framework 13 has the Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 and the nvme is my work drive. The performance is so slow its unusable. I’ve tried all four ports and it doesn’t seem to make a difference. I’ve attached two benchmarks from the same drive, the slow one is from booting the Framework 13. The drive is fine, the faster of the two is the same drive running on my old Elitebook 840 G8. I’ve tried messing with bios settings, when searching there was a comment of disabling legacy boot, but I don’t even see that in the BIOS.

Is anyone else booting a Framework 13 run into this issue and figured out a fix?

The top one looks like usb3 10gbit and the bottom one looks like usb2.

What kind of drive are you using here? If it has a cable are you using the same one as with the elitebook?

Its a Corsair MP600 MINI 1TB in a ORICO Full Metal M.2 NVMe 2230 SSD Enclosure, USB C 3.2 Gen2 Type-C 10Gbps to NVMe PCIe Adapter. Using the same cable in both cases, I’ve tried the one that came with it and a usb 4 cable that I have same results. I’ve ordered some different expansion cards in case that is the issue.

You could try plugging directly into the mainboard without an expansion card, the thing dropping to usb2 consistently points to a potential wiring issue.
