[Pop OS] display scale resetting on reboot - SOLVED

So far the framework (DIY edition) is amazing and I’m having basically no problems running Pop OS out of the box.

I’ve changed Settings>Displays>Scale to be 100% (it defaulted to 200% after install) and then used gnome-tweaks to scale the font up to 1.7 - this results in a perfect font/icon size for my vision.

Every time I reboot, though, the display scaling resets to 200%, which combined with the 1.7 font is almost unusable, of course. If I change it back it persists until next reboot.

Any way to make the setting stop changing back? Thanks!

Turn off “enable HiDPi daemon” (the option underneath scaling) and see if that helps.

That worked, thank you!

I understand this was solved long ago. However I had to use a different fix, and I’ll post it here in case someone else comes across this problem.

The HiDPi daemon was already off, but I was still having this issue. I looked in my ~/.config/monitors.xml file and saw that the scaling was set to 1.5000023423, despite changing it to 100% in the GUI. I think that my experimenting with fractional scaling caused a bug here.

What I did was delete both the monitors.xml and monitors.xml~ in this directory. Then when I logged out and back in, my GUI changes were reflected in the monitors.xml properly and they persisted after logging out and in again.

I hope this helps someone.
