Power/charging cables

Our dog chewed the end of my FW16’s USB-C charging cable yesterday, it’s utterly destroyed…

So, a few experiments:

  • Some kind of thin USB-C power cable (intended for a phone, it came with a 65W adapter) with the Framework 16 power brick: Won’t provide power at all. This is probably a good thing, I assume the cable is too weak to carry enough current.
  • Steam Deck thicc cable and power adapter: Charges! Seems to provide enough current to use the desktop (I’ve got KDE Plasma 6 going on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed). I don’t think it’s enough juice to run a game on the GPU. I’ll probably try some video tutorials and run Godot to see if it’s enough for that.
  • Ordered these: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08D6NCQ1Z Since it’s random cables from Amazon, I’m sort of expecting the house to burn down or my USB-C port to get fried, but they had next-day shipping on it.

I’ve also been using one of these as a sort of wish.com MagSafe™ connector: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0CWGHXVFK Seems OK, hasn’t killed anything (yet), but I wish the magnets were stronger, it comes apart easily… which is sort of the point.

Is there a source for the correct USB-C charging cables that ships faster/cheaper than Framework’s website?

https://www.amazon.com/Anker-Bio-Braided-Charger-iPhone15-15ProMax/dp/B0C4FDJ8F7 (10ft 240w)i have several of these and if i need an extra 2-3 feet use it with my framework. Though in Canada the price is ridiculous so would recommend https://www.amazon.ca/Anker-Bio-Based-Charging-MacBook-Samsung/dp/B09ZL4N9DW (6ft 240W) I have a couple of these too.

I use the 6 and 10 ft to charge my FW iPad iPhone and multiple other computers when im doing work on them.

Also i know LTT Advertises for Ugreen. Used to advertise for Anker

The one problem with those ugreen is only rated for 100W. You need a 240 watt rated cable

The 100W cables (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B08D6NCQ1Z) were not powerful enough to run the GPU, but seemed OK for desktop use (at least, it wasn’t draining while plugged in). I didn’t get around to trying video in Firefox.

The 240W cable seems to be working fine (https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0C2V1512F), although it was too heavy for my fake MagSafe™ USB-C adapter, so I’ve stopped using that.
