My FW16 will not charge if I have my charge cable connected to an expansion card in ports 1, 4, or 5. Charging appears to work fine if connected to port 2 on the left of the device. Ports 1, 4 and 5 all recognize USB-C flash drives if connected and I can read/write files to them as well. My system even makes a sound to indicate that a device was connected (flash drive, charge cable, whichever). I am using the 180W power adapter that came with my FW16, running v3.05 BIOS, and have the dGPU AMD Radeon RX 7700S installed. I have tried moving the expansion cards into different slots but it doesn’t matter which card is in which slot, only port 2 works for charging. My system is running Fedora Linux 41 (Workstation Edition). If I run journalctl from the command line after connecting the charge cable to port 1, 4, or 5 I see one of the following:
kernel: ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: unknown error 256
kernel: ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: GET_CABLE_PROPERTY failed (-5)
kernel: ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: unknown error 0
kernel: ucsi_acpi USBC000:00: GET_CABLE_PROPERTY failed (-5)
Any ideas? Thank you.
EDIT: It appears that the above errors can also appear in journalctl when I attach the charge cable to expansion card 2, but charging still works without issue as far as I can tell.
