I have two questions about the webcam module:
- Does it work with the Framework 16?
- Does it include a upgraded mic?
It looks like it’s probably compatible, but I can’t find it actually stated somewhere, and I can’t find any info regarding the mic.

Yes,
and yes.

It’s also compatible with all of our existing Framework Laptop 13 and Framework Laptop 16 models, so you can pick it up in the Framework Marketplace and upgrade the laptop you already own.
We’ve also brought in new 67 dB SNR microphones from AAC for greater audio clarity.
Thanks! I’ll place my order right now.
Update: It can currently only be purchased as part of a laptop kit right now in the US.
You should be able to order the standalone part.
You’d think so, but I can put it in my cart and as soon as I try to buy it, I get a popup message saying:
Sorry, we only have stock of that item at our non-US warehouse. You can only purchase it when combined with a laptop order.
As @R_L_Royall_Jr mentioned, it seems that US customers cannot currently purchase the webcam as a standalone upgrade. I just received a restock notification only to find out that I can’t buy a webcam here in the US.
Do the Core Ultra preorders also include the 2nd gen Webcam module like the AMD ones with 2.8K Display? Asking because the order configuration page is slightly different and I am pretty sure I remember reading about it tied to the 2.8K display (in either a blog post or deep dive) and not the processor of choice
Likewise, I get the same error. Both the webcam module and the “Framework Laptop 13 Keyboard - International English - Linux”.
This has occurred several times when I’ve got a restock email. Is there a root cause fix planned?
I’ll check this with our marketplace team, thank you for the reports!
I get the same trying to order a module to be shipped to the UK.
Did you manage to get an answer from the marketplace team as to why that part wasn’t orderable as a standalone? It’s now out of stock, but I’d very much like to order one standalone as soon as it’s back in stock…
Thanks!
You should be able to order the standalone part when it’s in stock. The previous error message was displayed when the part was out of stock on EU/NA warehouses but we still had stock in our Taiwan warehouse. System does not allow standalone part orders from the Taiwan warehouse (if you are based in EU or NA) and that specific error message is displayed. Hope this makes sense.
Makes sense to me, thanks for the info
