Hi all,
I’ve just upgraded my webcam for my AMD 13 to the second generation model. The first generation module was working well before removal today and I have not damaged it as far as I can tell.
Don’t like the idea of throwing it away, so if anybody has need of one, I’m happy to ship in the UK for free. Just note I can’t promise that it’s definitely working as haven’t tested it since my careful removal.
I’d much rather want Framework to provide people with boards they can either buy or make themselves so all of these parts can be easily reused.
Currently it’s mostly just community members making boards for the parts to easily reuse them.
For instance for the old webcam models, one of my usecases would be adding a cam to my 3d printer. I don’t particularly think recycling is the best option here.
I agree. I have seen some of the reuse modules, but they seem to require a bit of effort to get hold of (or are, understandably via the work/materials, not super cheap). I’d love to just attach it to a Raspberry Pi or something.
Based on this post, I also guess there’s not much market for (even free) smaller parts such as the webcam. Just feels like I’ve got behind the Framework mindset, so feels “dirty” to throw tech away. I have the old screen (upgraded to 2.8k) in the loft and can’t bring myself to throw it away.
Equally, I personally don’t want to “hoard” parts just in case.
If nobody is keen for the webcam, happy for this post to be closed (as not a “sale” as such).
Is there any way to recycle parts via the tip/dump do you think?
