I noticed some random crashes and freezes on my FW16. It didn’t seem to matter what distro I was running (tried Debian, Kubuntu, Endeavor, Arch). Then I noticed something weird. When I turned off the camera and microphone, all crashes and freezes disappeared. For the last month, I’ve been testing out this hypothesis, and there seems to be something wrong with the webcam. Whenever I switch it on, it will lead to system freezes. Not immediately, but within 30 minutes or less. It doesn’t seem to matter if I actually use the camera, just having it enabled is enough. Even after a reboot (with the webcam still enabled), freezes will still occur.
