Replacing mainboard one screw left

After my Gen 11 mainboard died I bought a Mainboard (AMD Ryzen™ AI 300 Series) - Ryzen™ AI 7 350. When assembling everything following the replacement guide one screw is left. Hmmm, I took a photo - but how can I attach it?

Hi.

I’m a little confused with the picture and how that’s going to help; why can’t you put it in or is it not needed for the newer main board? Or if it’s just chewed up a little bit, you could get a new screw or driver?

I’m waiting on my first one now, starting with the 12 but 13’s next :smiley: so sorry if I’m not too much help yet.

This is what happens when you work on computers, you always find a left over screw. There is a little stash of spare screws at the top of the bottom shell, close to the middle of the screen. You can see if you accidentally took it from there. Otherwise keep it somewhere safe for when you find where it came from.

I don’t think the screws have changed at all with the mainboards. So it’d fit in somewhere. We’d need a photo of the mainboard to help find it.

I got a replacement motherboard for my ai 300. I recall there was an extra screw. If I recall correctly, it was a screw left over for the SSD hard drive.

I guess that’s it. I had that screw placed next to my SSD in my shelf. When injecting the SSD there was a screw on the mainboard. I think this explains the issue sensibly.

The screws are coloured differently for their use, motherboard screws are dark, SSD screws are bronze / yellow / golden in colour, see step 15. It isn’t clear from your picture if it is golden or not. It might be worth sharing a photo of the entire machine open like in step 25. If it is golden then it is either SSD, audio board or WiFi at least on 11th gen boards, I know there have been some changes. Also check you have all 3 spare screw types at the top middle above the mainboard, the side closest to the screen.
