The fingerprint reader was working as expected and set up with my user in the GNOME UI. A few days later I noticed that the fingerprint failed and asked for password instead. Since then, the fingerprint option is not present in the user settings for existing or new users.

I looked at the guide for updating the firmware, however it looks like fwupdmgr just cannot find the device at all in order to update it.

I have tried:

  • fwupdmgr get-devices 1e8c8470-a49c-571a-82fd-19c9fa32b8c3 => failed to find any device providing 1e8c8470-a49c-571a-82fd-19c9fa32b8c3

  • fwupdmgr get-devices => can’t see the fingerprint device

  • sudo fprintd-list $USER => No devices available

  • authselect current to confirm that the with-fingerprint feature is enabled

  • I checked that the fingerprint cable is seated correctly, removed and reconnected at both ends

Is there anything else I can try on my end or should I create a support ticket to replace the part?

Thanks

Hi @James_Shirtcliffe ,

Can we first check if the fingerprint reader is visible on lsusb command?

cheers!

@Loell_Framework There is the output ^. Not sure if that helps identifying if the fingerprint sensor is present. I currently have 3 usb c and 1 usb a expansion cards installed.
