Fingerprint reader no longer detected

My laptop is no longer recognizing my fingerprint reader. The OS can’t see the device. Fedora 40, UEFI 3.08.

I tried powering the laptop off and disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes, but no luck.

Try usb-devices. Check if there is a driver for the fingerprint sensor.

Nothing’s jumping out at me here:

Are you able to try using Windows to see if the fingerprint sensor is being detected?

It seems weird that you are somehow still able to use it as a power button but the fingerprint sensor is not working. Worst case scenario, if it doesn’t appear in another OS like windows, you may have to replace the fingerprint sensor.
