Samsung 990 Pro SSDs not detected after forced shutdown or power loss

When there is an improper shutdown—such as a forced power-off via a long press of the power button or sudden power loss—one or both my internal SSDs may fail to initialize on the subsequent boot. This results in a non-bootable state, with the system displaying a “We couldn’t detect an operating system or bootable drive” screen and the drives disappearing from the BIOS menu. This issue has occurred 3 or 4 times so far and almost 100% chance reproduciable.

My current workaround is to boot into a Live OS via USB and perform a graceful software shutdown. I am using 2 Samsung 990pro 2TB SSD and the Framework firmware version is 03.04. This may suggest the bios isn’t handling SSD in dirty state well or the SSD is buggy.

EDIT: This may be more on the Samsung side as there are plenty of reports of its firmware issue.

I’ve recently got 990 pro self-detach 2 times, crashing the system.

Their bootable ISO with an updater doesn’t boot for some reason; this linux guide worked:

Will see if update helped with the issues.

Yeah. After some research, firmware issue seems quite common on 990pro. I upgraded my firmware to the latest on windows via their magician software. But the issue persist.
