[Solved] - Framework 13 7040 series bricked after using it for 3 days

3 days after receiving my Framework 13 7040 series, it stopped doing anything; it won’t charge, won’t boot, won’t do anything, it’s just a brick.

No lights are on when I try to boot or charge it, it’s just bricked.

I’ve tried charging with every port, and resetting the mainboard state according to these directions, but haven’t had any luck.

Contact FW support. You only get help from other users here, and your problem sounds like needing a new mainboard.

I would clear CMOS, you do this by removing the charger disconnecting the battery, and remove the CMOS battery on the main board for at least thirty seconds. I am hover not framework support and accept no liability for any damage you cause.

You absolutely should get support from framework. it unacceptable that they don’t give appropriate support, assuming you are in a supported country with a device purchased directly from framework within warranty.

AFAIK the thing to reset the motherboard state should be equivalent to that, but I’ll try it - also, the 7040 series doesn’t have a CMOS battery, it just uses the main battery.

Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery worked, thanks!
