[SOLVED] Framework 13 AMD Ryzen 7040 won't boot

After a power outage overnight, possibly with a power surge, my framework 13 with AMD Ryzen 7040 didn’t want to boot anymore.

I checked the manuals on how to reset the motherboard, but no LED’s were blinking at all on the motherboard and neither was the yellow led next to the usb-c port. It wasn’t the charger (I tried multiple chargers that worked in other devices) and I also removed the expansion cards to make sure they weren’t the issue. none of it worked.

I found a manual for the Intel series talking about removing the CMOS battery, but since the Ryzen doesn’t have one, this wasn’t an option.

As a last resort I removed the battery from the laptop, put the top keyboard panel back in (but without the battery in there), pressed the power button for 30 seconds, and then plugged the power back in. Lo and behold, the led’s on the motherboard started blinking again. And the led next to the usb-c port started blinking red and blue (signifying there was no battery in there probably).

When I put the battery back and plugged it back in the led’s blinked red again, and the led next to the USB port lit up as well. After putting it all back together, now my laptop boots again.

So I guess this is my very brief summary of what I did, in case it helps anyone else.
