[SOLVED] Linux install instructions: what is ALS?

Step 5 of the Fedora install guide says " The ALS and the brightness up/down keys conflict on currently shipping kernels" and goes on to say how I can disable ALS with a module blacklist entry.

The problem is that I have no idea what ALS is, and that acronym isn’t distinctive enough that I can search for it either. Anyone want to explain what ALS stands for and whether I should do this when installing linux on my framework?

Ambient light sensor

Basically the ALS will constantly brighten/dim the display even after you manually adjust brightness using the function keys is what I assume after reading the guide. Disable ALS to enable the keys to function.
