[SOLVED] Tails wont work on Framework Laptop

My USB 2.0 arrived today ( Amazon.com: SanDisk Cruzer Blade 8GB USB 2.0 Flash Drive- SDCZ50-008G-B35 : Electronics ).

No improvement; same errors as before. To Kenny’s point, I tried both:

  1. Put in Tails stick before turning on laptop. I get three Tails boot options: normal, troubleshooting, external drive. None of them work all give same errors.
  2. Turn on laptop before putting in Tails stick. Go to blank boot menu. Then put in the stick. Tails launch option from USB appears. Try that. Same thing happens as above: try all three options, nothing works.

Did not want to try older version of Tails because the website doesn’t offer them, the first Google hit that does looks shady AF, and this post advises not to:

I suppose I will give up on this; Tails will not work.

You may need to wait for tails to update to a new kernel (which given it is still running a 6.1 version with security updates may be a while). Or you could try booting with nomodeset to see if you can get it to boot without a graphics driver at all, which of course has it’s own very big set of issues.

Bleeding edge hardware and “stable“ (as in updating very rarely and deliberately) don’t mix. Running tails within a vm on a more modern distro may do the trick for you (ever looked into qubes?).

Thanks for comment. No I haven’t look into qubes. Sounds intersting.
