[Solved] - Unable to connect to wifi on Framework 16

Hi everyone!

I’m new to the Framework community and just got the Framework 16 laptop. I’ve encountered a problem where I am unable to connect to wifi networks. I have read the Windows installation guide and installed both the OS and AMD Ryzen 7040 drivers three different times. I even reseated the wifi card a few times in case that was the issue. So far I have not had any luck in connect to wifi, the option won’t even show up.

If anyone has any insight into, it would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to the community and congratulations on the Framework Laptop 16.

Try opening the device manager in Windows and see if it is even showing up. If it is not there then it likely is a hardware problem. Either the slot (unlikely) or the m.2 Wifi card.

Contact support right away to get a ticket started so they can help determine what to do to resolve it.

Alternatively, you could check in the BIOS that it was not disabled for some reason. If it is enabled and you think it might be a Windows thing, try making an Ubuntu USB and booting to the Live option. This will load the OS from the USB and you can see if WiFi networks show up. Check the little cables attached to the card for the antennas too. If they are not seated then the card might be working but can’t see any networks because the antennas are not connected.

Let us know how it turns out.

Thanks for the reply pkunk!

It looks like the generic Bluetooth adapter and network controller apparently don’t have any drivers installed. I did redownload the driver bundle and reinstalled it, but no dice. I did send in a ticket so hopefully the support team can get back to me somewhat soon.

As far as I can tell, the antennas look alright. Once I get some free time I’ll figure out how to look through the BIOs and making a Ubuntu USB. Otherwise I’ll just waiting for the support team.

Hi! I was having the exact same issues and found a member of the framework team replying on another thread saying many people have been reporting issues with the latest driver package. They posted the link below in the thread, which is either the previous version or the one before that. Installing this driver set solved my problems, and I hope it solves yours as well!

That was the solution! Thanks Jase!
