Hi there! This might be considered a duplicate thread, as I have found other threads that ask about this, but they are all old and inactive at this point. (see Sourcing for battery connectors?, Connectors for battery extension cable - #5 by eteq and Battery-PD adapter for standalone Mainboards - #4 by FlorisNielssen)
Essentially, I’d like to bring up again the issue of not being able to source a Battery connector port for projects featuring the Framework 13 Battery. Having owned and loved the Framework 13 for the past few years, I’ve recently (ish) upgraded it’s battery, and having a fully working framework battery just lying about gave me the motivation I needed to give turning it into another powerbank (or battery extension) a go. I’ve done all the research and have a pretty solid plan, apart from being able to connect to the battery itself properly.
According to both the open source docs, and other people who have done this research before me, the connector in question is the ACES 50459-010H0M0-001. Now before it seems to have been an issue of MOQ, but now it seems like this port is not available at all. Searching for this connection in www.acesconn.com (which is, as far as I can tell, the original manufacturer of the connector), yields no results. I’ve looked for both standalone connectors, as well as breakout boards, but so far the options I’ve purchased were either mislabeled or simply incompatable.
Therefore I would like to ask if there is any other option open for me to carry on this project, barring from removing the connector on the battery itself and dealing directly with the 10 wires coming out of it. I was hoping to avoid that so that my solution would be as safe as possible, without tinkering with the battery itself.
Thanks for an advice in advance and thank you Framework for a fantastic device and project
