Speaker Audio Does Not Work, Impacts Video

Hello Framework Community,

The speaker audio does not work, and if no other alternative audio is connected, the video buffers and even stalls.

Laptop Details:

  • OS/Operating System: Windows 11
  • Model: Framework Laptop 13 and AMD 7040 Series

Timeline:
Issue began when I was watching Netflix on Microsoft Edge and the screen would begin to glitch/stutter up and down every time it went into full screen mode. Seemed to just be an Edge issue because downloaded Google Chrome for Netflix, and it would not glitch there.

However, speaker audio gave out at some point during the troubleshooting (cannot say what exactly did it).

Current Issue:
Speaker audio is silent on videos played on Edge, on the Spotify app, and on sounds from other apps. Uninstalled Google Chrome, so cannot be certain for that. However, if Airpod Pros are connected, the sound will be clear and play from there.

Another issue is that if the Airpods are connected, video on Netflix will play smoothly, however once disconnected and the sounds must “play from the Speaker” the video starts to buffer/stall, pause to load for some time, and then play at a much lower quality and speed.

Troubleshooting:
I’ve tried restarting, “Modifying” Edge (I cannot uninstall and
reinstall), updating my drivers on Device Manager (though Windows says they’re up to date?). Any suggestions on anything else I can do?
I am trying to avoid a complete rebuild because my Microsoft Products License was a one-time use product key, not sure I would able to reinstall them again. Also it is a hassle.
Thank you.

Ended up just needing to run the Windows 11 audio troubleshooter that restarted the audio drivers and then required restarting the laptop:
