As a split keyboard user, the most important feature is to have a split spacebar key.
It is easy to run OS software to model the behavior of splitkeyboard with layers on top of standard laptops keyboards.
The main bottleneck is the spacebar. Without a split spacebar one cant maintain a unified muscle memory.
If frame.work could just offer a split space-bar then it wouldn’t need QMK or any other type of weird custom setup. EDIT: Also splitting the space bar into four keys would be perfect.
There are 60 keyboards one can choose from on the main shop site but not a single one has a split spacebar.
The only thing that is necessary is the split spacebar, then you can just use kmonad or katana on top of that to model eg arteus or a minimal 3 by 5 dactyl/skeletyl experience.
