Thermal pad instructions

Framework sent me a complimentary thermal pad! Thank you, Framework!

Now, uh … what do I do with it?

There are no instructions of any kind accompanying it.

My machine is a Framework 16.

As with everything. Guides are on Frameworks site (there should also be a QR code in the package)

But anyways:

Yeah, there’s no QR code or anything else in the package. Just a return-address label and a little plastic container with the thermal pad inside.

Thank you for the link.

Whoa nice; did you know why they sent it?

Nope! All I know is they gave me an opportunity to receive one at no charge, and I said, “Sure,” assuming they had a good reason for it.

you didn’t fill out the form to request one?

I mean, if by “fill out the form” you mean “provide my name and shipping address,” yes, I did. As I recall, the item was presented as something free of charge that it would be good to have. I allowed myself to be persuaded by that presentation.

yup, it is free of charge, this is the reasoning behind it : Framework | Framework Laptop 16 Deep Dive - Liquid Metal

Do note that the guide is marked “Difficult”. Removing the liquid metal and replacing with the PTM thermal pad will be a difficult procedure for many, and it carries risk if an accident happens.

If you are happy with your system, I’d consider just saving the PTM thermal pad for perhaps the future.
