Hey!
My Framework Laptop 13 is about a year old, and recently the touchpad started having recurring glitches. Sometimes (about once every 10 hours of use), the touchpad starts being very unresponsive, misinterpreting what I’m tracking as if it was dropping some of the information. This lasts for about 5 minutes, but sometimes comes back soon after (rebooting does not solve it). Did anyone notice something like this?
I’m running Arch Linux but I’d be surprised if that was the problem, as for example my desktop that has basically the same config does not exhibit any cursor problems of the sort.
@TheTRUEAsian Hey, this is not a Linux issue, I am able to reproduce it on Windows install media.
Can you try maybe cleaning the cable with a bit of rubbing alcohol and plugging it back in?
Make sure the alcohol doesn’t drip so just wipe it with a wet paper towel. Also, make sure it is completely dry before plugging it back in.
If you see your battery bulging, it could be the battery causing your issue as it is pushing up the trackpad. If this is the case, you will need to replace your battery as a bulging battery is a safety hazard.
Thanks!
I don’t have rubbing alcohol at hand right now so I reseated the connector and made sure there is no dust for now. Hopefully that helps. I’ll try to get some alcohol if it doesn’t.
I also checked the battery. It is perfectly flat except for the sharp bulges that I assume are the battery cell delimiters.
