Hello,
recently my touchpad on my FW13(AMD 7040 serires) started glitching. It happens under Linux and Windows. It seems to me that anytime a gpu workload(eg. youtube or a 3d app) is running the trackapd stops tracking or the cursor just teleports. I didn’t open the laptop prior to that for months.
I have tried unpluggind and plugging back in all the cables on the keyboard assembly without any luck.
The only thing that comes to mind (and this may be completely unlogical) is that a storm knocked my power out the previus night and that couly maybe fry something, because my monitor also flashed(but it’s working fine). I don’t know much about electricity so pardon me if these things are completely unrelated.
Thanks for the help!
I had a possibly similar issue, that seemed to resolve itself.
for me it seemed to vary depending on the power supply i used. does it do the same thing for you on battery vs plugged in?
reseating the trouchpad was suggested.
Now that you point it out, yes. It’s much better with the laptop running on battery power. I just bought a new 100W charger before I started seeing this issue, previusly I was using a 67W phone charger and it was ok. I have already reseated the touchpad when the issue started occuring, but unfortunately with no luck. Will try again just in case.
The reseating didn’t help again, but the touchpad work normally with my 67W phone charger(Xiaomi), the 100W Tech protect(NC100W) chargers seems to cause the issue.
Well beyond that clue. I never figured it out. as I mentioned it just kinda fixed itself.
Try using a grounded charger?
I also tried the faulty charger with a friend’s macbook and his touchpad also started misbehaving.
Yes, I’m gonna buy a new one, since the issue seems to be with the charger. Do you have any recommendations?
If the MacBook’s charger is not grounded. Maybe the charger doesn’t need to be grounded, a decent charger could be enough. You can buy a grounded charger from Framework marketplace
