[Updated July 22] Q3 2025 Preorder Shipping Update

Update as of July 22nd:

We want to share a few important updates on order fulfillment timelines. We understand how frustrating delays can be, and we appreciate your patience as we work through them.

Framework Laptop 12
We’re on track to complete shipping for Batches 0-2 by the end of July. However, we are now expecting to complete Batches 3-6 in August due to production constraints at our manufacturing partner. Our team is doing everything possible to accelerate these timelines, and we’ll fulfill orders as soon as they’re ready. We’ll continue to provide updates as we receive new information.

Framework Laptop 13 (AI 300 Series and Ultra Series 1) and Framework Laptop 16
Some configurations are currently delayed due to limited availability of certain components. If your order includes any of the following items, your full order will be held until that component is ready to ship:

  • DDR5 Memory – Shipping begins next week.
  • US Power Adapter – Estimated to ship within 2-3 weeks.
  • US English (1st Gen) Input Cover Kit – Estimated to ship within 2-3 weeks.

Orders without these components are shipping on time, within 5 business days.

Framework Laptop 13 (AMD Ryzen 7040 Series)
Due to higher-than-anticipated demand, these configurations are currently out of stock. We’re ramping up production and expect to be back in stock in August.

Update as of July 18th

Hey all, I wanted to share a quick update on shipping progress. Thanks for hanging in there while we get everything out as soon as we can.

Framework Laptop 12
We’ve shipped the majority of Batch 0, 1, and 2 orders, with a few specific configurations shipping shortly as we get the necessary inventory in. For Batches 3 through 6, we’re actively working with our manufacturing partners to get the necessary production scheduled. Our aim is still to get these batches out of the factory and into fulfillment before the end of the month. We’ll continue to keep you up to date if this changes.

Framework Desktop
We’ve completed our production qualification build that we call “Pre-MP”. Those are final hardware, and those systems are going to press reviewers and to our partners at AMD for internal and marketing use. We’re now starting our mass production ramp. Board assembly of Mainboards started on 7/17 Taiwan time, followed by final assembly of Mainboards and Systems starting later this month. With that production schedule, we expect to ship the first Batch 1 units the week of August 11th. This is later than the “early Q3” timing that we originally communicated for these orders, driven both by our design and validation schedule to ensure this is a robust and reliable product and by our production ramp schedule to ensure our factory can output hardware at high quality. We’ll provide further updates if anything during the manufacturing ramp prevents us from meeting the week of August 11th timing.

For the framework 12, is it possible to disclose which items are delaying the shipping of some systems?

Thanks for the update, what about the availability of the Framework 12 Stylus?

This is not in any way official information, simply my speculation based on my experience + comments I’ve read through on the forum, but it appears they got part way through shipping Batch 0 colors before running out of trackpads for the Lavender keyboard.

Wonder what happens if I change my batch 0 order now to a grey trackpad instead of lavender

I haven’t received an update on it’s timeline, but when it does become available we’ll post about it on our social accounts.

For next time, I’d recommend a new post, or update by replying, instead of editing the post.
Or at least reply and put a big mark the OP post as updated.

I was confused for a second why I was reading now that my batch ships in August, when I was convinced this post from 4 days ago didn’t say so initially.

Had to go to the pencil to see the edit.

And I just came here because of the date in the order page was updated, not because the post said it had an update.

@catastrophic I think the way of doing both editing the post on the first comment and also commenting by replying on the thread also works for people to notice your message.

Thanks for the suggestions - I didn’t want to confuse people with a separate post, but will definitely do a reply if I receive new updates.

Thanks for the suggestion, I also updated the title to see if that makes it more clear. Sorry if it was confusing!

The original post copy was below the new update (so you wouldn’t have to click the pencil) as one post, but I can see how that was confusing so I updated it just now with the date it was originally posted. Hope that helps!

I got email about my order having parts delayed, disappointing but things happen. Then I got a followup “Clarification - Update on your Framework Order” which was anything but a clarification. I’ve ordered a Laptop 12 DIY Edition in Sage, and the clarification email lists four Laptop 13 components that have issues.

exact phrasing

Earlier today, we sent an email about a delay with your Framework order
R[redacted]. We’re following up because we missed listing laptops and
bezels that are pending inventory, which may have caused confusion.

Your order contains one of the following AMD Ryzen 7040 Series Laptops
or Framework Laptop 13 Bezels, which are currently awaiting inventory:

  • Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series) - Ryzen™ 5 7640U
  • Framework Laptop 13 DIY Edition (AMD Ryzen™ 7040 Series) - Ryzen™ 5 7640U - 2.8K
  • Framework Laptop 13 Bezel - Transparent
  • Framework Laptop 13 Bezel - Transparent Black

The only thing I felt needing clarification from the first email was if things would ship as they came in or only once everything was available. With the second, I have more questions since that’s a list of things not in my order.

I’m running into the exact same issue.

I ordered a Framework 13 with Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 on July 14 when the ETA clearly said 5 business days. Eight days later, after two vague emails, I learned my entire order is held up because of… a USB‑C power adapter I don’t even need.

And the “options” they gave me? Either:

  • Wait another 1–3 weeks for that single missing part, OR
  • Cancel and reorder—losing my place in line and still waiting another 1–3 weeks.

It’s baffling that in 2025 the shipping policy is still “all or nothing”. Why can’t they just backorder the single missing item and ship the rest? I already have plenty of USB‑C adapters—why should that hold the entire laptop hostage?

I wanted to support Framework because I believe in the mission, but this kind of logistics and communication really undermines trust.

Update: I apparently also ordered the translucent black bezel that is supposed to be holding back my order but the last email I received says

  • Framework Laptop 13 Bezel (Color: Translucent Black) SKU: FRANCB000A | Estimated time of Replenish Date: July 7, 2025

So the replenish date is BEFORE my order date…

The second email went out to clarify why customers with an order for a Laptop 13 received the previous email if they didn’t have any of the parts originally mentioned. If you didn’t order a 13 or any of the parts mentioned in the second email, you can disregard it.

Apologies if I haven’t read this somewhere – how big is each batch (for the Desktop)? I’m in a later one and I’m trying to understand what the timeline for my batch will be.

As far as I know they don’t disclose how big the batches are, as not to reveal sales numbers…

As of August 4th I can see that the Framework 13” DIY edition comes with the AMD Ryzen 5 7640U that can be selected in the DIY configurator. I was wondering if there was any ETA on when the Ryzen 7 7840U would be added back to the configurator?
