Upgrading my 1st gen

I have the first gen FW 16 with an AMD 7840HS. I’m considering getting the 2nd gen RX7700S graphics module and the Ryzen HX 370 mainboard. Are both of those compatible with the original shell and the rest of the components (and each other)?

Also, it appears that the HX 370 board does not have soldered RAM like most HX 370 boards from other brands. Is that correct?

And finally, can the laptop charge and control peripherals through the USB-C port in the 7700S module? I currently use a single USB-C cable to connect my FW 16 to my monitor for video, power, mouse, and keyboard.

The 7700S usb-c port has display out + USB2. No power input, unfortunately. That was added for the 5070.

Depending on your usage, you may be happy enough with the dGPU performance while using one of the motherboard ports for display output. I did it for the one cable convenience and never felt like I needed to use the gpu port.

No FW16 boards have soldered RAM, and all the parts are compatible between 1st and 2nd gen parts
