Greetings framework community! I am a computer scientist from Michigan. Occasional open-source work. happy to be here. also here because I’m going to sell my batch 1 framework 16 on the community market!
Dag iedereen! I am a company fire fighter in the kingdom of Belgium.
The last 15 years I used to much Microsoft at work. Since May ‘25 I re-discovered Linux, in particular ZorinOS and for Christmas I gave myself the present of a Framework 13 DIY.
Thereel RTM! Currently an academic tutor and full time cybersecurity college student! I have been tinkering with old computer/laptop hardware since I was young and got into Linux in 2020. I have been daily driving Linux Mint on my Desktop PC and my Framework Laptop 16. Linux has been on these machines since I’ve built them. I made my Desktop in September 2024 and got the DIY 7040 Edition of the FW 16 in Febuary 2025! It started out with a 1 TB 2280 NVMe SSD and 16 GB of DDR5 RAM, which I didn’t like especially when 4GB of the RAM was used for the VRAM for the integrated graphics, so I promplty upgraded it to 24GB and returned the 16 GB kit. I have recently upgraded my system with an AMD RX 7700s (1st gen) and added a 1 TB 2230 NVMe SSD.

Prospective buyer. I don’t really want to give other info to strangers on the internet…
Howdy, my name is Tabby!
Born in Brazil, raised in the US. I am currently a Mechanical engineering student that was previously in computer science, and working in IT support services at my local community college. I’ve always been a “Do-it-yourself” kind of girl with pretty much everything in my life, and especially now that I am close to starting a career. I am hoping to get into some fusion of automation engineering and/or systems integration after I graduate. I found Framework because I was getting really frustrated with many big brands intentionally making it harder and harder to work on your own devices and minimizing any upgradability to lock you in a purchase cycle when they come out with a new product (Also, I beat the hell out of my old laptop that I have had for nearly 7 years now, RIP). I literally googled “custom laptop” and this was the first thing that came up, lol. After a lot of reading, I just bought my first Framework 16 and I am extremely excited to build it and join this community!
Side note for anyone still reading: I love animals, the environment, I am an avid videogame and TTRPG player!
If you want to chat, here are my socials -
cotton_candy here from the midwest, US. I have a Framework 12 in bubblegum running Arch/KDE. It is my first Framework and I am happy to join the community. I do IT management and tinker with web development on the side. Hobbies are music, photography, sewing, cooking, gaming, camping.
Hi! I am retired physical world engineer. Want to learn to use local llm’s for stock fundamental analysis. Haven’t used linux in 15-20 years. It is much easier now, the documentation is sooooo much better. Also, just want to challenge my brain, try to stay sharp.
Hey everyone, I’m J, university student and founder of Claw Command at Cal State LA.
I found Framework the same way many of you did: trying to repair my 2013 MacBook Pro and hitting a wall. Soldered components, proprietary screws, no path forward without paying Apple to do what I should’ve been able to do myself.
That frustration eventually led me to start Claw Command, filling a real gap at CSULA in hands-on learning and cybersecurity. When I walked up to the Framework booth at **Hackaday SuperCon**, it just made sense. I reached out, and here we are.
The culture here is exactly the environment I want the club to grow up around. Looking forward to building with this community!
Hi I’m Ian. Been a Linux person for many many years - was also an Apple software engineer for nearly 13 years (Xcode, UIKit, Swift Playgrounds, FaceTime).
Originally I wanted a gaming laptop for travel, but have since branched out to the 13 inch framework. I build these laptops with my kids, as they enjoy tackling these fun challenges. Other interests include flying, skiing, and 3d printing. I do AI stuff for work.
I have built (and rebuilt) the AMD AI 300 FW 16 and the Intel FW 13. I have a Framework Desktop for day to day linux use and Local LLM experimentation.
PS - I have a 13 inch Framework laptop to sell. Please DM me if you’re interested and want more details. I’d like for it to go to someone in the community ![]()

Hi folks,
I’m Lilian, I’m French and I work as a digital marketing officer in a company I cofounded.
I wasn’t much into PC gaming until I realized that I can enjoy the comfort of a console, but with the opportunity to upgrade it and to give a new life to my games through modding (Cyberpunk
). Not to mention indie games exclusive to PC. I would like my Framework (CPU AMD 7840, GPU : Radeon 7700S) to be my last computer.
Fun fact : 1 month after my purchase, my mainboard died.
So I actually introduced myself through the troubleshooting topic ![]()
Cheers !
Hi, migrating from Windows10 to Linux, and going for a framework laptop, because I care about repairability. Had a Fairphone for that reason.
Still a new world for this noob. Feels a bit like I am back in the good old days of Windows 3.1 when you had to do clueless stuff in the command prompt.
Hello, I live in Australia I am here to earn TF lvl2 in order to sell my framework 13, to contribute to the purchase of the framework desktop!
Hey! I’m Aveus I am currently using my fedora 43 framework Laptop 16 with 7840hs and 7700s for casual gaming and playing around with local ai models. I’ve been a lurker for a while and really appreciate the community. I’m glad I was able to support such a cool company!
This has also been a great experience to learn more about linux and open source software for me and I’m grateful.
Hi, I’m Joe, I was lucky enough to get a mainboard in a mysterybox, and was able to revive it through some repairs. I was able able to 3d print a case for it, and I have an EGPU dock on the way to do some testing on it.
Hi I’m AJ, I am in property insurance. Found FW through LTT and fell in love immediately. Been into upgradeable laptops for years, still have a Alienware 17 R1(The Ranger) with a MXM 980m that used to be a 760m and a socketed 4th gen intel that I’ve upgraded from a 4710mq to a Intel extreme 4940mx with custom heatsinks and Liquid Metal to boot. I love to tinker on laptops more than desktops so the framework 16 was a no brainer for me having just upgraded my FW16 I bought last July, 7840HS+7700s to the 5070 and the 2nd gen display. Wasn’t running the oculink for awhile but honestly the 5070 upgrade alone almost makes it not necessary, though it’s so much more quiet.
The Freedom to do what I want with this device is just freeing.
Hi I’m Andrew. I’m currently running Linux Mint on my Framework Laptop 13. Am here to join the community and expand the community marketplace for this wonderful project of reducing computer part waste. PS - I have a display kit that might be faulty and am looking for one. The screen was originally tearing vertically on occasion but now just has a more permanent faint white burned into most of the display. Can’t notice it unless the screen is displaying mostly dark pixels. No rush to replacing it, but willing to sell this one for cheap if anyone wants (maybe some of it is still good?). Will need to have a replacement before I sell it though. Please DM me if you are interested in selling one or buying this one to tinker with. I troubleshooted with support and they couldn’t figure out the issue either but it definitely seems to be a hardware one.
Hello, I’m Brandon. Posting here to get my trust up to sell some Framework 13 parts in the community marketplace. Dual booting Windows 11 and Linux Mint, trying to figure out Hackintosh on an egpu. I make music too under the name Stone Deluxe. On a FW 13 7840u. It is awesome.
Hello, I’m jerry, I’d really like a high quality lapdock and the best options on the market are pretty subpar, so I’m considering converting a framework 12 to one. If you have a framework 12 chassis you’d like to sell please let me know! I’m still on the fence about the project since it’s so expensive to get a chassis for the 12 ($470 for all the parts from the marketplace, or $550 as the baseline kit). I just looked, the mainboard itself on the marketplace is $300, so maybe I’ll try to sell it and get the chassis for a more reasonable net cost
